How to Dress for Bonfire Night
🕤 7 min read
There are few things I love more than clothes, but mulled wine and fireworks might just take the top spot! In fact, I love Bonfire Night so much that I once moved into a flat for the sole purpose of its view over our local bonfire site. So, when it comes to dressing for Bonfire Night, I like to think I know a trick or two about staying warm and toasty while looking great for the gram.Â
Whether you prefer to keep it casual or like me, think that every walkway is your runway, then read on to find out how to dress for Bonfire Night!Â

Mini-Skirt & Knee Boots
Be the fashionista of any firework display by incorporating some on-trend pieces into your Bonfire Night ensemble. Mini skirts, knee-length boots and long coats are all having their moment in the spotlight and with a woolly jumper and some cosy tights, this look is just as toasty as it is chic.
Scarves are a must this time of year, so, I have added the Pure Luxuries London ‘Neptune’ pashmina featuring a versatile and understated design that compliments every outfit.Â
Now for the most useful accessory of them all - I have chosen the Pure Luxuries London ‘Hoxton’ shoulder bag in dark brown to finish off this look. It is spacious enough to fit everything you might need to make the most of Bonfire Night, from the 'essential' flask of mulled wine (or cider!) to the less important things like your purse and keys.
Pink & Burgundy Explosion
Did you know ‘peony’ is a type of firework effect? Well, now you do, but it is also bang on trend this season, so it’s not just the fireworks bringing colour to the displays this year. Pair rich plum and burgundy hues with your bright pinks to add a delicate contrast that's both playful and sophisticated.Â
For accessories, I have paired the beautiful Pure Luxuries London ‘Oxford’ scarf in Carnation Pink with Conkca’s brand new ‘Tillie’ cross body bag in Blush and Plum (which I think are a match made in heaven!). This gorgeous variation of our 'Tillie' cross body bag will be coming soon, but until then, there are seven stunning colours to choose from.Â
Pro Tip - belted coats are not just perfect for creating an hourglass silhouette… every Bonfire Night, I wear a belted coat just so I can hide a hot water bottle under my jumper and use the belt to secure it in place. Whether this idea is crazy or genius, you will be a cosy and warm crazy genius.Â
Long Coats & Statement Scarves
Want to keep it chic and simple? You can’t go wrong with black and grey! I have been living in this floor-grazing black coat this autumn, and Bonfire Night will be no different! Uplift any monochrome outfit with a statement scarf such as the Pure Luxuries London ‘Vector’ shawl, which can be worn in numerous ways to help keep the chill off.
Keep your hands free for sparklers with a spacious backpack like the Pure Luxuries London ‘Verbena’ backpack. I just checked, and yes, you can fit a full bottle of wine in there and there is even room left over for snacks!Â
Don’t forget about keeping your hands warm! The Pure Luxuries London ‘Windermere’ gloves in the colour Foggy are crafted from a beautifully soft blend of cashmere and merino wool, adding a little luxury to your winter wardrobe.
Autumnal Dress & Trusty Boots
Bonfires can be muddy places, be prepared with a pair of your favourite trusty boots! I have paired my beloved Dr Martens with this autumnal tartan dress and some matching accessories for a stylish and practical look.Â
This was actually a last-minute outfit choice, but I added a navy blazer and the Pure Luxuries ‘Grizedale’ cashmere and merino wool beanie in dark navy for the perfect outfit for Bonfire Night!
I finished off this autumnal outfit with the Cultured London ‘Gants’ cross body bag in Ink. I love this colour! It looks great with neutral outfits and adds a little contrast to autumnal colour palettes.
Beige for Bonfire
Anyone who knows me, knows I love beige. It has survived decades of fashion trends and there is no sign of it going out of style anytime soon, making it the perfect colour palette to invest in and incorporate into your capsule wardrobe. I teamed my favourite trench coat with a cosy jumper, light-wash jeans and weather-proof boots - perfect for surviving the unpredictable November weather!Â
The ‘Minnow’ cross body clutch bag in Dark Tan from Conkca is the perfect size for your essentials and can easily be transformed into a clutch bag - after all, Bonfire Night falls on a weekend this year so those mulled wines could always turn into post-firework cocktails…. This bag will be available soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
To keep me snug as a bug, I finished off the outfit with the Pure Luxuries London ‘Cambridge’ scarf in Oatmeal and ‘Bowness’ beanie in Caramel, both crafted from GCS-certified cashmere and merino wool.
